FOOTBALL.

The Wanganui thirds journeyed! to Marton on Saturday to play a return match with the Marton thirds. Owing to the heavy rain lately the ground was very muddy, but nevertheless'the game was full of exciting bits of play. Wanganui won by three points to nil, after a very hard game. Just on the call of time Ring kicked a beautiful penalty goal for Wanganui, thus pulling the game out of the fire. In the evening the team were entertained at tea by the Marton team, who treated the team very hospitably. Mr C. B. Gibbons refereed.
