THE WALKING RACE.
Final arrangements were made last evening for the walking race from Marton to Bulls and back, which starts punctually at two o’clock tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon'. Competitors will be required to keep to the metal road until after passing the railway line at Marton * and also going through Bulls. Mr O. Hinckley (Bulls) was appointed to take the official time of competitors as they went, round him at the Post Office at Bulls.' Mr A. Way was elected starter and appointed one of the judges. The referees (Messrs O. E. Gibbous and H. H. Hunt) will be assisted by Messrs E. Jolly, T. Latham, R. H. Carey and P. Dunne, who will take up different positions along the road. The presentation of trophies will be made by Mr W. L. Little in front of Marton Post Office immediately after the race. The first prize is a silver cup presented by Mr Mace Walters, and the second a gold medal presented by Mr E. J. Walters. The officials will be supplied with rosettes.
