(From Our Own Correspondent.) T’ne ranks of tho old settlers are getting rapidly thinner. The ].ato Andrew ' Gambles Doughty, wlioso funeral took place on Friday,"removed another well-known settlor from our midst. Third' son of the late' John and Mary Doughty, who settled in Bulls in 1853, deceased was born iff Bulls in 1855 and lived'all his'life'amongst us, first ns a school.boy and then as an honest, industrious sturdy farmer, liked and respected by all. His end at the early age of 48 was sudden and unexpected, Deceased was a prominent member and Past Grand Master of the X.0.0.P., A. 0., and had been so from the time of the foundation of the Raugitikei Lodge in Bulls, and as such was followed to his last through tlie flooded^state of the Tqtaeuui tho cortege had to travel through private ground? and by the new Brandon Hall road. r fhci funeral service was impressively conducted by the Rev. Evan Evans, after which the Oddfellows’ service was road by Bro. Walker. Our sympathy is extended to ins widow and relatives in their great loss,
The meeting of Bulls School Committee lapsed for want of a quorum, and was adjourned till Monday next, 4th instant,
