DOMINION DAY.

A meeting' ot‘ citizens determined to celebrate Dominion Day, without interfering with the course of business, by v oading tho declaration formally fit 11 am and im-du in the afternoon. Protests were imuU cii bft’i/ilf of the business people and the schools against increasing the number of holidays, and the town =oho’ol committee refused to give more than a half holiday. 'i'ho general opinion expressed was against an 'additional holiday, and that if Dominion Day is to i.c celebrated annually, Labour Day celebrations sheaid J?e hold on the saijio date, or oven King's Birthday treated similarly. It is admitted, however that there wbujd bo a clUlieulty in reconciling the Labour Party j4* this arrangement.
