The amendments made in the Council to the Franchise Bill called forth a warm speech from the Premier, who declared that the Council had mutilated the Bill beyond recognition. They wore face to face with crisis. The Ministry had expected reason and moderation. Backed up by the demand of the conn try, they" claimed some consideration from the Council, Inn:were utterly disappointed. The Council had" granted concessions which would prolong its life, hat still continued to emulate Pharaoh, who had hardened his heart. The question was whether or not the Council should he wiped out, and had become an insistent one. Ho asked the House ito 'send 'back the Bill to the Council in'the same condition as before. The Leader of the Country Party, also the Loader of the Labour Party, support the Premier. The discussion is proceeding.
