ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Per Press Association. Wellington, September 13. A tram conductor named Melville struck his head against an iron polo supporting the overhead wires and was taken to the Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be serious. Prank Taylor, aged 15 years, fell down a lift a distance of about sixty feet at the Wellington Woodware Co.’s promises today, aud Had a log broken and an arm severely injured. He is now in Hospital. Dunedin, September 13, A boy named Nordmeyer, aged seven years, met with a serious accident at Alexandra to-day. While attempting to climb up on a passing waggon he fell, the rear wheel xiassing over him. The boy sustained a broken leg and other serious injuries, little hope being held out for his recovery. Gisborne, September 13. The District Coroner lias received the following advice from tho constable at Waipiro Bay. A native named Whitiu, hung himself at Whareponga this morning. He assaulted a native woman in the bush last night. When the natives sent for the nolico ho took to the bush, aud was found this morning hanging to a tree quite dead. Ashburton, September 14. While working at a planing machine in one of the local sawmills a youth named Robert -..Broome, a recent arrival in tho colony, had Ills left arm taken x»ff below tho elbow.
