FEIDLING FOOTBALL CLUB.

Tha annual dinner of the Foildiug Football Club was hold last night in the Drill Hall, when about 60 members and visitors sat down to an excellent light repast. Mr F. Piraui presided. _ An apology was received from Mr F Y Lethbridge, tho patron of tho club, and from others, and a letter was received from the secretary of tho Old Boys Olub congratulating tho Foildiug Club on its second win of the Mauawatu shield. After tho toast of tho King had boon honoured tho chairman proposed long life and prosperity to the Foildiug Football Olub. Ho _ said tiiiero never was bettor material 111 the club to make a good team than at prcaout, but practice in a gymnasium, discipline, and the members taught their responsibility to eacii other was necessary to success. Matches wore not won on Saturdays, but practically in the preparation for tiio matches. Tho toast was coupled with the name of the captain, Mr Ougley. Tho latter, in responding, said ho hoped to see tho time cojuo around when tho club could hold its own with Palmerston, The last win had boon duo entirely to good combination of the players. Mr W. Watts pronosed the Mauawatn Rugby Union, He suggested there should bo but ono selector instead of throe. Mr W. H. McLean, in responding, said the Union was under the disadvantage of not having a ground of its own at Palmerston, being troubled with ephemeral clubs,- and in having a sub-Union. He pointed out that there was no one person in the district capable of acting as sole selector. , ~ A presentation was made of a gold medal (given by Mr Potts) for the best all round man in the senior team, and Oantaiu Ongloy was tho recipient. A solid silver match box, to the most useful man in the senior team, was presented to Mr Treveua. The gift was that of Mr P. Thomson, A medal for the best forward in the team wont to Mr D. Whisker, given by Mr Evans; and a medal for the best all round player in the junior team was presented to F. Thompson. This medal was the gift of Mr Hart. Tho medals were presented to the recipients by tho chairman. During the proceedings songs were given hv Messrs Rosamond, Potts, Flygor,‘Richards, Smith and McLean. Other toasts were the Referees’ Association, Kindred Sports (resuouded to by Mr P. Thomson,) Tho Old Timers, and the Press.

A hearty vote of thaugs was passed to Feilding Jockey Olub for the free use of the ground. A vote of thanks was also passed to the donors of medals and the chairman.
