N.S.W. ELECTIONS.

Local Option Poll

Reduction Atone Carried

Press Association. —Copyright.

Sydney, September 11. Three scats are still in doubt. The latest returns indicate that Ministerialists will oust.Labourites at Orange and Macquarrio, while Labourites will oust Ministerialists at Blayne.

The local option count is progressing slowly. Of 15 completed electorates 3 voted continuance of licenses, 12 reduction and in five of these 12 the no-hoenso vote was larger than that for continuance and reduction combined, but failed to reach the throo-fifths majority necessary to make no-licenso effective.

Though now it looks as if no electorate would carry no-license right out the vote for reduction will prove effective in very many electorates. The Act provides that where no-lioense is not carried the vote counts with that for reduction.

No-liccnss advocates profess that they are well satisfiodswith the result as aa excellent beginning, much hotter than New Zealand's first attempt, Sydney, September 11. , Allowrio electorate, where a member was returned unopposed, took a local option poll and carried no-liconse, but as 30 per jeent of the electors did not vote the poll was non effective. September 13. Tho Premier estimates the state of parties as—Liberals 53, Labour 80, Independent 8. Of tho latter two will vote with Labour and six with tli 3 Ministry.

Tim Ministry gained six seats and lost six, Labour won ten and lost four, while the Independents gained three and lost nine.
