ARBITRATION COURT.
Per Press Assjciation. Dunedin, September 10. Tho afternoon sitting of tho Arbitration Court was occupied with tho hearing of charges of breaches of awards. William Wood was charged with breaches of the preference clause of the bakers’ award'. It was only sought that the breach should he recorded, ond it was recorded accordingly.
Allan Johnston was fined £3 and costs for breach of the casters' award. Hugh Bruce, of the firm of Monzies and Bruce,, now Bruce and Duckworth, was charged with breach of the pastry cooks’ award. Respondent had taken upon himself tho duties of second hand in his shop while, it was alleged lie had a man doing second hand’s work and not recoiling the award wages. The Court did not deem respondent as competent to do second hand’s work and fined him £3 and costs. and Cursey were brought before the Court for a breach of the general labourers’ award. The case was dismissed, the Court not regarding the work done _as being connected with certain building operations, but preliminary thereto. Scott Bros, were charged with having fajled to pay proper wages under the carpfnters’ award to an employee. Chari ps Spurber was also charged in connection with the same matter. The Court held that the work was not properly carpenter’s work and dismissed the case.
