Yesterday tho Arbitration Conrt was engaged bore bearing a claim .for compensation for tho loss of a tlmmb, W. Miller claiming £IOO from W. Gibson. Claimant had cut his thumb off while gorso cutting for respondent. The Court delivered judgment this morning when claimant was awarded £1 a week for tho 11 weeks ho was incapacitated. He was also allowed £5 os costs and wituescss espouoss. The Inspector of Factories asked for interpretation of tho tlommillors’ award as to whether head millers come under it. The Court ruled that head millers are exempt.
Au by tlio South Canterbury Paiuaters’ Union to have their industrial agreement converted into au award was granted.
Tho Court concluded its Timara sittings this morning and loft for Dunedin at noon.
