ROTORUA TRAIN ACCIDENT.
Close of Enquiry. f Per Press Association. | Auokuand, September 3. , The enquiry concerning the Rotorua I railway accident was concluded bolero District Judge Kettle to-day. Mr Prendergast, who appeared for the Department, suggested that the most probable cause of the accident was that the Westinghonse brake was not properly applied on the incline. Mr limine, on behalf of the men, considered the most reasonable explanation was that the gear bad been interfered with by Maoris at Ngatira. it having been stated in evidence that some Maori children had turned on one of the cocks. Mr Kettle said ho w‘ou!d forward his report to the Minister.
