LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER’S PERIL.
Per Press A sscciation. Auckland, September 2. On the arrival of the Mokoia from the South ou Sunday Captain Smith reported that the lighthouse keeper at Cuvier Island signalled for tho Hinemoa to be sent down at once. Tho Hinemoa rah down to the island this morning. The lighthouse keeper reported that a big landslide took place on Saturday night, damaging the chief keepers house. Some 300 top.-; of earth fell. It' is feared that other landslides will take place. Captain Boltons, of the Hinemoa, and My Soott, of tho Marine Department, will probably recommend the houses being shifted to a safer position.
