Oamaru, September 2, This morning a notitiou was largely signed by Hour mill operatives _ protesting against tiio abolition of * tho duty on Australian fiour on the grounds that it would seriously affect the labour market ly closing New Zealand mills and throwing a, largo number out of employment. Tiio petition is being forwarded to elm Minister of Customs and local rep're.-sonta-tives.

The local Chamber of Commerce also v/ired to tho Minister and representative protesting against the removal of duty on iioiir pointing out that it would” seriously affect town and country labour aud lead to diminution in the price of land. Tim North Otago A. and P. Association are taking similar action.
