MARTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A special mooting was held yesterday afternoon. Present : The Mayor (Or. ISkerman), Crs. Sutcliffe, Lyon, and Gould.

That Mill street bo formed to a width of 42 feet aud metalled 20|cet, aud that footpaths he formed, but uot metalled; all water courses to bo concrete, pipes to be used for ordinary drainage purposes throughout the streets with the exception of the large stream crossing Mill street, where a bridge 155 feet long and (5 feet wide should ho erected. That engineering plans and specifications ho submitted to Council for final approval before tenders are called for construction of the works, and all work to bo done to satisfaction of Council,

The manager of the Bank of Now Zealand wrote in regard to loan of £SOOO falling duo shortly, and advised Council that New Zealand officers of G. and Provident Association were prepared to renew the loan for a further period at same rate and without commission.— Reply to bo scut that the matter has boon referred to Finance Committee.

Loudon, was accepted for new gasholder. The gas : manager was authorised to procure an overhead 800 gallon tar tank at a cost of £lO. It was decided to invite tenders for the supply of 250 casks of Portland cement, aud that £SO be expended iu purchasing gas stoves, grillors and rings from England.
