INFANT LIFE PROTECTION.

A deputation consisting of Drs Truby King and Collins and three Indies waited upon Br Findlay regarding infant life protection. It was suggested that tho period in which registration is bound to take placo be shortened, say, to thivo days in towns and within a, week in the country. The deputatioualso represented that the police were not proper authorities to exercise surveillance over infant homes, and that provision be made for a responsible oiiicer, and for cancelling tho rfcgistiatiou of homes conducted in an undesirable manner.
Br Findlay, in reply, said he was convinced that something would havo to be dono to protect infant hie more fully than was the ea;-o at present, and the: law would have to be altered to provide that a qualified nurse should inspect ■the homes. He also intimated that tho lawwould bo amended ia other directions.
