There was fine weather for the match between the New Zealand and N.S.W. j professional teams and about 3,000 spec- j tators were present. A strong southwesterly breeiw was blowing. Tho local j team was weaker than on Saturday.; Thero was a gord deal of ragged play at the opening. The Homo h-n:n got tho ball from tho scrum more often than their opponents but were generally kept on tho defensive. A superb run was made by Messenger, who feinted in ami out through the Blacks but the effort was finally spoiled by ,i forward pass. Tho Now Xwtlanders again drove the Blues back, compelling them to force several times and wero within an aco of scoring, but luck was against tlieni. Shortly before half time they scored iu quick succession. Wynyard and Todd came away, the , latter nearly side-stepped Fry ami scored. Turtill failed at goal. The Blacks dribbled back' and from a scrum the ball came through to Wrigley, who dived round the back and scored. Turtill again failed. The locals then placed tho "Blacks" on the defensive, but Todd, intercepting a pass, got down the field and-scored in the simplest fashion, Wrigley converted, making the score — Now Zealand 1-t ! Now South "Wales 0 Tho local mou seemed demoralued and the standard of play fell. They managed to obtain a score, which was the result of a fine piece of passing iu which Cheadle, Hollo way and Catiu participated, llolloway scoring. Messenger kicked a goal. Now Zealand 1-t New Seiilh Wales 5 On resuming, Dobbs was rather badly hurt- and tin: locals played a man short. From tho thrown in, Tyler got possession and ran in. Wrigley converted and tl'.e score was .New Zealand ... ... ... 10 New South Wales 5 There was no alteration when the game ended a few minutes later.

Per Press Association. Invcx;cai;«ill, August 21. Tho thirty-fourth iutorprovincial football match between Otago and Southland was played this afternoon and resulted in an overwhelming victory for Southland by 20 to 5.

Auckland, August 21. Auckland "Wednesday Union representatives were defeated here this aftemeon by Kotorua representatives by 5 points to nil, after an extra good game. Kotorua team were mostly Maoris, and they scored near the call of time. Jtotorua play Auckland hero on Saturday. Auckland Kughy Union to-night decided to ask the ' >Jew Zealand Union what stops they proposed adopting in regard to tho professional footballers.
Players Suspended
Wellington-, August 21. The Management Committee of Wellington Itugby Union to-night suspended six players for participating in the professional match at Sydney. Hcrowhonua v. RangStlkei. 'This match ',ras played at Manakau yesterday and resulted in a, win for rlorowhemia by 3 7 points to three. The game was very fast and it was only towards the en I of the second spell the homo team showed to advantage. The first .spell ouded in favour of Horowhcuua by three points to nil and soon after the second spell began, Hill scored a nice try for Kaugitikci. Mr 3. .T. Gibbons was in charge of the visitors, who were entertained at a complimentary banquet last evening.
A match between tfandon and Foilding football clubs was played on the Feuding racecourse yesterday afternoon. The ground was so wet that the playeis were really not able to play the game scientifically. Lookers en called it a mudscramble, Feilding won by 8 points to d.
