A SERIOUS CHARGE.
Per Press Association. Wellington, August 20. A married woman named Annie Whitaker and a carpenter named William Burford were charged at the Magistrate’s Court to-day with having used an instrument for an unlawful purpose ou a young woman, 17 years of ago. The victim of the alleged offence, it was stated, is in the Wellington Hospital in a rather critical condition. The case was adjourned till throe o’clock this afternoon to have the girl’s depositions taken.
