RIOTS IN BELFAST.

The Grayson EpisodePress Association. —Copyright. London, August 15.

The conference at Belfast to arrange a settlement of strike troubles is progressing satisfactorily. Sir Grayson, M.P., in a letter to tno Times says that his speech at Huddersfield was misreported. Referring to the terrible incidents at Belfast he had remarked that the fight was most unequal since one side had a military training, ball cartridge, gatliugs and bayonets and on the other there wore only broken bottles. His statement was a very different tiling from that attributed to him. The Belfast flax spinners have given a fortnight’s notice and 30,000 workers' will be idle owing to the disorganisation in consequence of the strike.
