A remittance man named John Cockburn Owen Bassett, about 10 years of age, was discovered dead in bed and standing on a table beside him was a glass tho contents of which are supposed to bo a mixture containing cyanide of potassium. A bottle containing a quantity of the same ’mixture was also in the room, while on tho floor was a "wrapper with tho name of the poison upon it.
