LADY'S PREDICAMENT.
A lady living on the Graubrook Park estate, llford, had a painful j experience. Early in the morning she entered the bathroom, and, having fastened the door, was closing the window, when through the cord breaking, the lower portion descended with a bang upon the fingers ci both her hands, crushing them severely, aad holding her prisoner. The inten«o pain caused her to s-ream aloud, but the door being Licked on the inside the maid servant, the only other occupant of the house, was unable to render any help. Two work men, engaged at the back of the premises, hearing her cries of distress, reared a ladder, and one ascended to the window. But as the l"-dy was just ready to stop into the bath, she indignantly refused to allow the man to-open the window, ami ho accordingly retired. Eventually a young lady from the next house wont up the bidder, raised the sash and entered. doctor was soon iu attendance, for, in addition to the injuries to her fingers, the victim was suffering from shock.
