Allan Thomson, the first Rhodes scholar from New Zealand, whoso term is completed this year, has been appointed Lecturer in Geology at St. John’s College, Oxford, this being the first college lectureship in this subject at Oxford. He has also been offered the position of Demonstrator in' ' Petrology ’to Oxford University, a new position, and in addition has boon elected Bellow of the Geological Society.
