Cabled nows informed ns last week that A. O. Jones, tho popular amateur who has captained tho Notts county team with distinction, will captain the English team in Australia. Much disappointment is felt 'ln cricketing circles that F. S. Jackson, tho hero of tho last series of tost matches played in England, could not see his way to come out in charge of tho team. But Jackson has nearly always put business 'before pleasure. At tho same time Jones will make a capital and popular captain. Ho is a clever loader in tho field, a freely-hitting batsman, and has done groat feats for Cambridge and for Notts.
