The Earl of Aberdeen declined a petition from the Belfast constabulary on tho ground that the condition precedent to any representations must bo the complete re-estabhsh-ment of discipline. He declared that the recent violation of discipline at a critical moment was a serious discredit to all the constables concerned. , Tho leader of the discontented Belfast constables has been dismissed, and five others have been suspended. Agitation in several towns, including Cork and Waterford, is increasing. Tho Essex Regiment from tho Curragh lias been transferred to Belfast. A largo force of Wexford police drafted "to Belfast threaten to lay down their firms, if Government refuse an increase of pay.
