New Zealand v. Australia. To-day’s RefereePress Association —Copyright. Sydney, August 2,
In reference to Queensland's objection to the New Zealanders’ selecting Mr Morgan of New South Wales as referee in tomorrow’s match the secretary of the local Union to-day received a wire from Queensland Union stating they thought it unnecessary to incur the expense of sending Mr Morgan as there were several Now South Wales referees in Brisbane besides Queensland’s own competent men, adding that the manager of the New Zealand team was told that Queensland objected to Mr Morgan’s appointment and they appointed another referee. The manager of the Now Zealand team wired to Mr Morgan regretting that-Qucens-limd declined to agree to his appointment. Sydney, August 3.
The Daily Telegraph, commenting on the New Zealand prol'ossioual team, says it is almost common property now that on August 17th. 21st, and 34th the visitors will be engaging in combat with teams respectively from the Eastern suburbs, South Sydney, and Globe. This will cause some souse of disappointment to those who have followed the game for the game’s sake, to learn that prominent players, indeed some who have been lauded to the Rugby skies for their loyalty to club and- cause, have climbed down from the dizzy height of their elevation to pick berries from the professional ground bush. Several men who, it is_ said, had previously announced their determination "to] spurn an international cap or interstate cap in order that their clubs might top the list in amateur competitions are out for the gate.
Per Press Association. Wellington, Augusts,
It is stated that Mr H. J. Palmer, a prominent Pctono Rugby football supporter, will accompany the New Zealand tvam on its visit to England and assist in the managerial duties of the tour.
