NORTH ISLAND POULTRY ASSOCIATION.
At the meeting of the North Maud Poultry Association, held at New Plymouth last Friday, Mr Stewart proposed, Mr .Oliver seconded, that all exhibitors showing at the Agricultural Show at Palmerston North be disqualified under Rule 19.
This motion caused great discussion, and a large amount of feeling was shown, several members voting against thejmotion as a protest against the stand taken by the North Island Association in regard to agricultural associations. The voting was equal, the delegates from Wanganui, Newton, New Plymouth, Masterton, Hastings, and Manawatu voting for. it, and Hamilton, Wellington, Whangarei, Marton, Inglewood and Auckland against it. The Hawera delegate did not vote, and the chairman exercised his casting vote in favour of the motion. The notices of motion were then dealt with. No. I (Hastings) was withdrawn, Woodville’s notice of motion was defeated, and the New Plymouth motions (Nos. 1 and 2) were struck out. Manawatu’s notice of motion brought forth very heated discussion, Messrs Thomson, Nicholls, and Tonar expressing their views very strongly against it. The motion was ultimately defeated. The Pahiatua Association applied to have the disqualification imposed on Mr Suckling removed, and this was granted unanimously. Mr Thomson moved, and Mr Hooker seconded, “ That it be a recommendation to the incoming coiu, mittee to allot the championships by ballot, at the discretion of the committee.’ 1 This was carried unanimously, Mr Tonar then moved the latter part of Rule 9 be revised. After discussion, Mr Tonar proposed, and Mr J. Walker seconded, “ That each affiliated society be notified that a special meeting will be held for the purpose of revising the rules of the North Island Association, the secretary to notify a date on which the meeting shall be held, which date shall not be six weeks later than the annual meeting.” Thp motion was carried unanimously.
