Wool, Skin, and Hides.

The New Zealand Loan and Mer- : cantilefAgency 00., Ltd., report as follows: —On the 25th at Wanganui we offered a catalogue of 40 bales and 60 bags wool, 800 sheepskins, ; 600 hides, tallow, horsehair, etc. j The offering of wool consisted mainly ■ of orntchings, which sold at prices not quite on a par with last sale rates. We 'submitted an attractive ; catalogue of hides, which met with j a ready sale, prices moving up about Ltd per lb all round. Difficulty was experienced in realising faulty and slippy hides, and we would' again draw our friends’ attention to the necessity of care in the preparation for market. Competition was keen for sheepskins, of which we suumitted a good average supp y, and values r were firm at full late rates. We- quote:— Wool: Orntchings, medium quality s}£d to 5%d, inferior 4kjd to sd, crossbred inferior 7d to 7Kd, dead wool 7d, pieces 3%d to 6Kd, looks 2&d to B>*d Sheepskins; Coarse crossbred 6%d to 7>sd, fine crossbred up to BJ£d, hall wools 7d to 7Md, quarter wools 6d to 7d, dead hoggets 5d to 6%d super, dead 6>£d, medium pelts 6%d, inferior gu part dry crossbred 4s 6d to os 3d each, salted crossbred 4s 6d to os 2d each. Hides Ox, extra heavy, none offering, 50a to 70s, 4%d to 4%d, cow in very good condition, 40s to 60s, 4%d to 4>id, calfskins Cd to 6Md, yearlings 4%d, cut and slinpy hides from to 4%d per lb.* Tallow: Casks in shipping condition, £2B to £36 per ton; tins and drums 15a fid to 21s fid per cwt. Horsehair Is Id per lb.
