Mr|Mahaffy, Colonial Secretary for Fiji, has arrived with a view of securing reduction of duty on Fijian produce, notably bananas. Mr Deakin is suffering from nervous prostration, due to overwork in England, and has been ordered complete rest. A truce lias been arranged with the Opposition and Mr Watson will take no hostile action against Government during Mr Deakin’s absence.
