A STEAMER ON FIRE.

The steamer Colonial, bound from Adelaide to Durban, lias put iu to seek assistance to extinguish a fire in the low forehold discovered yesterday morning when 50 miles west of Cape Louwin. The hatches were battened down and she headed for port with all speed. The outbreak is supposed to ho amongst wheat. After discharging a quantity of cargo at the wharf water was poured into the lower hold to a depth of sovon feet, and it is believed the fire is now out. The Colonial’s cargo is valued at three-quarters of a million.
