At the Town Hall the Lord Mayor, on behalf of the Now Zealand residents in Sydney, presented Sir Joseph It ard with a fin© illuminated address expressing satisfaction with his representation of New Zealand at the Imperial Conference. Sir Joseph Ward, in replying, indicated that as a result of an interview with Mr Carruthers ho believed that measures would shortly be taken to bring about closer relations between Now South Wales and New Zealand to their mutual advantage. Influential business men entertained Sir Joseph Ward at luncheon at the Hotel Australia. Colonel Bums, of Burns, Philp, occupied the chair, supported by Mr Waddell, Chief Secretary, Mr Memvale, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr French, Manager of the Bank of New Sonth Wales, and Mr Jackson, Manager of the Union Co. ■ , Mr Waddell, in proposing Sir Joseph Ward’s health, congratulated their guest on the attitude he adopted at the Conference and considered his efforts were of so practical a character that greau good must accrue not merely to New Zealand, but to the Commonwealth. Sir Joseph Ward, who was received i with enthusiasm, outlined the work done i at the Conference and predicted that excellent results would arise from the interchange of opinions. Ho congratulated New South Wales on the prosperity it is enjoying and trusted the relationship with New Zealand would shortly be further advanced.
