THE RAND STRIKE.

In an interview with General Botha the mine owners offered to leave the strike dispute in. the hands of the Mines Obmriiission but stated they would not discharge the newlyengaged men and intimated that upwards of a thousand strikers must remain stranded. Mr Outhwaite is going to England to raise funds. General Botha warned the deputation that it was impossible to keep the troops on the Rand indefinitely though he was unwilling to withdraw them during the strike.
