MR MASSEY AT HUNTLY.

Per Press. Ass' elation. Auckland, June 11. Mr Massey addressed a meeting under the auspices of the Huntly Political Reform League. He said he was glad to acknowledge the Treasurer had a surplus. The country was prosperous and the revenue buoyant but he remarked upon the indebtedness of the colony which was increasing at the rate of two millions yearly. He did not see how this could' be avoided. He urged the revision of the tariff, Government should reduce the dirties on. the necessaries of life and keep -dtiwn the cost of living to the multitude. Amendmontwas needed in the local government law doing away with dual control by County Councils and Road Boards and placing the finance of local authority on a more satisfactory basis. He also dealt with the Land Bill, A vote of thanks was carried with enthusiasm.
