RONGOTEA.

A farewell social fwas held in the Temperance Hall, Rongotea, on sth June by tho Good Templars to Mr T. Lawrence, who is leaving tho district. Deep regret was expressed by members of tho Lodge at losing one of their best members. Mr Lawrence was one of the. chief movers to get the Lodge re-opened last September, and has fillod the place of Chief Templar ever since, and it will be difficult to fill his place. A number of members from Palmerston N. came out and a very enjoyable evening was spent. The following is the programme, which was rendered in good style : Chorus , "Press on," by members of Kia Ora Lodge, Rongotea ; game, potato race ; recitationby Bro. Fulluilo; game, Reuben and Raclwl; address by Bro. Dillon; address by Bro. Burkett; recitation by Bro. Morrison; recitation by Bro. Tobeek, Rongotea; duet by Sis. Trn.sk and Bro. Lawrenco ; recitation by Bro. York, Pahnerson; recitation by Bro. Fullnilo, solo, "The Holy City,'' Sis. Trask; game, Jolly Miller; Bros. Burrell and Lawrence spoke on behalf of the Palmerston and Rongotea Lodges respectively. Supper was provided by the Rongotea Good Templars, after which the company sang '' Come Friends and j Brethren," which brought a very: enjoyable evening to a close.
