Press Association. Auckland, June 3. The Maori chioftainess Peti Here wine sister of the late Major Te Wheoro, was found drowned in a drain near Mercer. A jockey named B. Towers was thrown while riding in the Maiden Steeplechase at Ellerslie on Saturday. He was removed to the Hospital and has not. yet recovered consciousness fully, but it is not anticipated his injuries will result seriously. o Alfred King, storekeeper at Waitakerei, while serving his customers, fell behind the counter and died almost immediately the cause being heart disease.
