Merchants, manufacturers and property owners at San Francisco have formed a committee of 75 to endeavour to remedy existing conditions and to check the forces of disorder lest business and confidence ho lost. A statement issued by the Japan Association in San Francisco de- . mauds special police protection to prevent further trouble and possibly bloodshed. It emphasises that the violence was largely the result_of racial prejudices. Holigaus are insulting and attacking Japanese, while sparing others.
