IS A PUBLIC BAR A PUBLIC PLACE?

Per Press Association. Thames, May 28. A case wherein the question was as to what constitutes a public place came before the Court when two men were charged with disorderly conduct in tho main passage of a hotel. Counsel held that a public place was a public bar. The definition of a public place was controlled by the words “ as of right.” Only persons seeking accommodation or refreshment had a right in the passage. If a main passage of a hotel was a public place, tho whole hotel was so. Tho Bench held the contention to ho a good one and dismissed the information, holding that the offence, if any, had not been committed in a public place.
