Dunedin, May 28.
Isaac Httrring, convicted at the Supreme Court yesterday on the minor count of common assault in tho Komahapa shooting case, was to-day sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. At the criminal sittings Philip Solomon, aged 17, and Louis Solomon, aged 3U, pleaded guilty to assaulting one Leggett with a bradawl. Louis was fined £3 and - Philip admitted to probation for nine months and ordered to pay 40s costs. Auckland, May 28. In the Supreme Court a middleaged man named Eveland Taylor was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for an indecent assault on a child aged seven. The Grand Jury returned no bill on a charge of manslaughter against Charlotte Evans in connection with the death of a boarded-out infant, and the accused was discharged. Wanganui, May 28. The Supremo Court opened to-day before Justice Cooper who, in his charge to the Grand Jury, said ho was glad to say that the calendar was not large. There wore only eight charges against six persons, one being of indecently assaulting a child. Tho charge of cattle stealing against James Floyd is now proceeding. ■Wellington, May 27. At the Supreme Court to-day, W illiam Agate brought an action claiming £5Ol damages from Stephen Judd for slander. The jury returned a verdict for plaintiff for one farthing damages, judgment being entered accordingly without costs
