BULLS.
Anglican Church Meeting. (From Our Own Correspondent. ) Tho parishioners of the Church of England at Bulls hold an enthusiastic mooting in the Sunday school room last night. They had been called together to discuss the pro-' posed alteration iu the administration of the parochial district. For 23 vears the Bulls, Groatford, aud Sandoii districts had maintained their own clergyman and had their own representative at Synod. Since the Rev. Isaacson’s departure it had been suggest :d that the district be divided, Saudou to be attached to tho newly formed Rongotoa district and Bulls' aud Great-ford to Martou. Tho chairman spoke at length, fully explaining tho effects that would result from tho loss of a resident clergyman, aud tho proposed dismemberment of tho parochial district. He concluded by calling for an express ion of opinion from tho meeting. Mr J. Porrett, representing tho Saudou vestry, addressed tho meeting, aud stated that tho Saudou people were distinctly iu favour of going over to Rougotca. He had attended tho meeting to hear tho views of members ou Bulls side, and to make a report to his vestry at a meeting to be held iu about a fortnight’s time. 91 Colonel Gorton, representing Groatford, pointed out that his vestrv were iu favour of going over to Martou. The Bishop also favoured that idea, hut the fact of the Martou vestry heiug against the absorption of Bulls aud Groatford districts put a new complexion ou affairs, aud he proposed that tho old district he reestablished, including Bulls, Groatford, Saudou, and Rougotca, with headquarters at Rougotca This resolution was seconded by Mr Goodall. Mr Pcrrett stated that Sandou might possibly ho iu [favour of this arrangement. . 1 Mr Mausell proposed an amendment that' the Standing Committee he asked to allow the parochial dis-. trict to remain as it is. This was seconded by Mr J. Tricker. Mr Porrett, speaking to the amendment, thought that if the amendment was carried his vestry would probably stand by it. Ou being .put to tho meeting the amendment was carried by a large majority. i Mr Mausell proposed and Mr Clark seconded that the Standing Committee be asked to appoint another clergyman to this district at the same stipend paid in former years.— Carried. A stronggoommittec was appointed to canvass for support throughout tho parish. Mr Downes [suggested that a delegate bo appointed to attend the Saudou vestry meeting aud place tho views of tho Bulls district before them.
Mr Herbert was' appointed to attend the Sandon meeting. This concluded the business, and a vote of thanks to the chair terminated theprocoediugs.
