LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
SIR,—Re Mr Donald Fraser’s letter in your last issue in reference to Mr R. K, Simpson’s candidature, why he should act as a fostermother to the latter l eannot say, unless it is that he is afraid of being opposed himself by a younger man at the next election in Ins own Riding, or it may bo because Mr Simpson has his interests m the Riding which Mr Fraser represents. Mr Kilgour’s interests are entirely in the Porewa Riding, and in the most central part of it, while Mr Simpson has neither vote nor interest iu the latter. Any ratepayer with sound judgment should therefore without hesitation give the preference to Mr Kilgoiir. It seems to me au insult to the intelligence of the ratepayers of our Riding to have a candidate from outside thrust upon us when we have plenty of as capable men amongst ourselves. As far as the County and Public Works Acts are concerned, they are always procurable from the Government printer for a shilling or two, and no doubt when Mr Kilgour is returned lie will have no difficulty iu making himself conversant with all that is necessary for the position.—l am, etc.,* T. H. BREDIN. Marton, May 9th, 1907.
