Rangitikei County Election
SIR, —If you will permit mo as a Councillor, I shall make a few remarks re the election of a member for the seat rendered vacant by the resignation of our late chairman, Mr Beckett. lam delighted to see that Mr R. K. Simpson is a candidate. During the twenty years that wo sat together on tho Council, ho took no remuneration for his services, and although, like myself a Scotchman, ho was even more cautious m tho expenditure of tho public moneys than I was. We have already six young members out of the nine on the Council, all able and good young men, but to have a thorough knowledge of all tho Acts that affect local bodies, requires years of experience. Ic an say with confidence that no man iu the Rangitikei Council has a more accurate knowledge of tho Acts than Mr Simpson—hence my persuading him to come forward, it ratepayers will only look hack they will And that many County Councils have had to pay largo sums to their administrators, who have not been familiar with tho Acts they wore working under. The Rangitikei County Council has been exceptionally fortunate iu having good chairmen and good officers and I hope their good fortune in this respect will continue. With the interests of the County at heart, I trust tho ratepayers will return Mr Simpson. Mr Kilgonr is a good young settler, but still has mauy years before him, and in the future when, there will aD ways bo plenty of opportunity, 1 hope to sec him come forward m public matters.—Yours, etc., 1 DONALD FRASER.
