Hastings Training Notes. Press Association. Hastings, May 7. There were only a few gallops on the course this morning. Grand Slam and Riflomaid wore locked together at the end of six furlongs in imin 33sec. Gold Crest and Gauze covered a similar distance in Imin Slsec. Strathcoua ran away from Matakokiri over six furlongs* on the plough in Imin 20sec. King Billy beat Gazeley over six furlongs in Imin 23sec. Robin Link ran four furlongs in oOscc. The best gallop) of the morning was witnessed between Volume, Saudix and St. Joe. Saudix got a bad start, but was only half a length behind Volume at the finish,’ St. Joe half a dozen lengths away The weather now is beautifully flue.
Hawke’s Bay Meeting. By “Turf." Ou Wednesday and Thursday the above mooting will bo hold. Record acceptances aprpear on the card, and there is every likelihood of this mooting eclipsing all previous ones. A double machine will bo conducted ou both days of the mooting, the combination ou tiio first day being the Poraugahau Handicap), six furlongs, and Hawke’s Bay Cup), l)d miles, and on tho second day the Burke Memorial and Hack Scurry. Anticipations : Louglauds Hurdles, 1% miles: Merriwai or To Uira. Maiden Hack, 0 furlongs : Monkey or Robin Link.
Nursery Handicap, 5 furlongs Oxtou or Illustrious.
Poraugabau Handicap, G furlongs : Lady Annie or Medallist. Hawke’s Bay Gup, V/ 4 [ miles 1 Sir Tristram or King Billy. Karamn Hurdles, 1% miles: Black Reynard or Jack Pot. Ponkawa Handicap, 5 furlongs: Erl King or Gauze. Autumn Handicap, 1 mile; Aberration or Lo Bean.
