At the Supreme Court John Lewis! alias Pearce, for the theft of a diamond ring by substituting a cheap ring for A valuable one shown to him by a pawn* broker, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment j William Charles Williams, charged with obtaining money by falsa pretences at Hamilton, was. sentenced to three years' imprisonment! Albert Arthur Norman, a youth charged with breach of probation, was sentenced to two years j in Ihe case of Henry James Atkins, alias Dalton, sent from the lower Court to be dealt with as a habitual offender, Justice Cooper said there was at present no reformatory .where habitual offenders might be detained. Ho could not make an order as requested, and the Government would have to discharge him. Atkins was sent back to prison to complete the term of three months ho is now undergoing.
