FEILDING TECHNICAL SCHOOL
The monthly meeting was held last night, Mr W. Cornfoot in the chair. Messrs Carty, Burnett and O'Regan were also present. The Director reported that ho had ordered a typewriter and rotary cyclostyle for use of the school. Applications had been made to the Department for casts and models for the room to value of £4B los, models for building construction, value £35 17s 6d and works of reference for carpenters valued at £8 5s (id. He had visited the country centres to supply information and enrol members but there had been few enquiries. Ho thought that dressmaking classes should be commenced at Kimbolton and Rongotea, and dairy instruction -glasses at Bunnythorpe and Rongotea. The local managers were willing to conduct these classes and the factory rooms and implements were available for use. He thought it would be advisable to arrange for a series of lectures on agricultural and dairying work by Government experts. Classes would be commenced at Feilding next week. Mr Isaac, Technical Inspector, would be at Feilding next week. Ho hoped to be able to form a plumbing class in a few weeks and it would be necessary to appoint an instructor. It was resolved that it be left to the Directors and Mr Staunton to get estimates for fittings of the plumbing room. The Director said he would need six typewriters for the typewriter class, the cost of second-hand machines would be £6O, half of which would be provided by the Department. \ "~* No conclusion could bo arrived at by the Committee as to how to raise that sum at present.
