Mr Jacobs, of Hawera, who is at present in Wellington en route to the Old Country, lias been offered and accepted tho appointment as vicar of the parish of Wanganui, rendered vacant by th c death of tho Rev. Mr McLean.' There is a strong fooling among parisliioners" here at the filling of the vacancy from outbids, as a petition signed by over 500 was presented to the nominators asking for the appointment of the acting-vicar, the Rot. Mr Warily Many more would have signed if time hud permitted. The nominal tors' Snored tho petition, and there is iikoly to bo trouble,
