A THREATENED STRIKE.

Press Association. Mastebton, April 9. On Saturday the men employed by the Railway Department in the Opaki ballast pit notified the ganger that unless they were paid at tho rate, oi 9s a day they would knock off work after Wednesday. About -thirteen men are involved. Tho pay.was reduced from 9s to 8s a day about a year ago. They say they have used every means since then to obtain what they consider reasonable wages and no other course is now open than to leave tho work. Of the original gang working before the reduction of pay only four remain, others having secured better employment elsewhere. During that period the number of the gang has fluctuated between niuo and thirteen.
