The Standard states that Sir J. A, Sweetenham, late Governor of Jamaica, describes his letter to Admiral Davies as private, and written in a spirit of pleasantry, as one friend to another. The Home Government peremptorily ordered him to apologise to Admiral Davies and he apologised, and resigned.
