THE SLAUGHTERMEN.

Per Press Association Christchurch, March 23. Tho dispute between the slaughtermen at Belfast, Islington and the Proprietary Companies was settled this morning, the men having agreed to skin the heads of the sheep. The premature rumor yesterday that the slaughtermen were again on strike seriously affected stock sales throughout Canterbury. Business in fat sheep was virtually at a standstill, and some, sales were postponed.
