The Inspector reported the work on concrete culverts had been blocked by the impossibility of obtaining concrete. Levels had been taken at Longburn, and whan the new kerb is put in, the water trouble will be remedied. The cross decking on bridges at Ngawhakarau had been removed and arrangements made for metalling over. The decking of the Oroua Bridge was in a very bad state and required renewing. The material for repairs to the approach to the Awahuri bridge was in hand, and the work would be put in havul as soon as possible. He had inspected the Kahuterawa river above the bridge, but did not consider that it was necessary to do any protective work at present. Some distance above the bridge the river was cutting in a los, but he thought that if protection wa3 done it would be destroyed by cattle. Therefore, he suggested waiting to see the result of the next flood, as there was a chance of the river going back into the old channel. Ho recommended the Council to take eome action in cases where notices to cut bask overhanging trees were not complied with. There was a bridge on Rangitikei Line, near Hanson's property, that required renewing, and he considered that a tbrae foot culvert would bo sufficient to deal with the water. Consideration of Mr A. Guy's request to have two culverts placed across Email creeks on Milson's Line and Settler's read was held over until a deputation have waited upon the Council. Permission was granted to C.
