A deputation representing nearly 600 unemployed interviewed Sir John Forest and offered their services on Queensland sugar plantations. They urged that there was no need for planters to import Italians. Bir John Forest, in a sympathatic reply, said that he considered that tho first duty of Government was to find employment for their own people, and promised enquiry.
