EXTENSIVE FORGERIES.

Berlin, March 5. : In 1898 extensive forgeries of notes of the Imperial German Bank which were successfully carried out by Herr Grunenthall, amounted, so far as was then known, to half a million marks. The annual report just issued shows that the bank sustained in 1906 a further loss of 740,000 marks, the' value of his forged notes circulated" abroad, since his death. These, have now been redeemed. Sydney, IMarch 5. Grunethall mentioned in the cable was manager cf the German Imperial Printing Office, and committed suicide in prison.
