Press Association. Dunedin, Marcli 2. Tho annual congress of tho New Zealand branch of tho British Medical Association will open in Dunedin on Monday, and is expected to extend over several days. The greater portion of the time of the Congress will bo occupied with matters of ‘ interest only to the medical faculty, Tho president for this year is Dr Barnett, of Dunedin, and he will deliver the opening address on Monday evening. On Tuesday evening there Will be a discussion on the question of the medical examination of school children, and to this, and also to the presidential address on the previous evening, the public i§ invited. The Chief Health Officer for the polony (Dr Mason) will attend the meeting, but jiie Minister of Public Health (Hon. G, powlds), who was also to have, been present, has notified that he will be unable to be in Dunedin at the time.
